Linda Godfrey, Manager of the Waste Research, Development and Innovation Roadmap Implementation Unit at the CSIR, has very kindly offered to come and give the organics recyclers more information regarding the current work that is being done at the CSIR.
They are currently investing in quite a number of research projects and post-graduate scholarships on organic waste beneficiation, in order to increase the diversion of organic waste away from landfill into higher value end-use solutions.

They are also committed to driving biorefinery in South Africa, and have recently established the South African Biorefinery Research Platform, which showcases what different research institutions are doing http://www.wasteroadmap.
Linda will also be giving some feedback on the recent government Phakisa meeting where organic waste was prioritised for recycling.
