We had 20 people attend the function from composters\, waste management companies\, farmers and other related industries. Emile Fourie and Berenice Westmore came up from Cape Town for the function to present the ORASA vision and objectives.

SUMMARY:Linda Godfrey CSIR Presentation Waste Research Development Innovation Road Map
DESCRIPTION:Linda Godfrey\, Manager of the Waste Research\, Development and Innovation Roadmap Implementation Unit at the CSIR\, has very kindly offered to come and give the organics recyclers more information regarding the current work that is being done at the CSIR. \nThey are currently investing in quite a number of research projects and post-graduate scholarships on organic waste beneficiation\, in order to increase the diversion of organic waste away from landfill into higher value end-use solutions. \nhttp://www.wasteroadmap.co.za/ \nThey are also committed to driving biorefinery in South Africa\, and have recently established the South African Biorefinery Research Platform\, which showcases what different research institutions are doing http://www.wasteroadmap.co.za/biorefinery/ \nLinda will also be giving some feedback on the recent government Phakisa meeting where organic waste was prioritised for recycling.
